Safety First: Your Essential Tire Maintenance Guide

Tire Safety Checklist.jpg

Your safety on the road begins with the only part of your vehicle that touches the ground: your tires. At Evergreen, we believe that proactive maintenance is the key to a smooth and secure journey. To help you stay safe, we have compiled an essential guide to tire health.

Are your tires still roadworthy? Follow our 4-step safety checklist to find out.

1. Watch for Uneven Wear Patterns

A healthy tire should wear down evenly across the tread. If you notice that one side is more worn than the other, it is a clear indicator of alignment or pressure issues. Inconsistent patterns can compromise your vehicle's handling. If your tread looks uneven, it’s time to consult a professional.

2. Locate the Wear Bars

Every tire features "wear bars" tucked inside the grooves. These are your early warning system. When the surrounding tread becomes level with these bars, the tire has lost its ability to grip the road effectively, especially in wet conditions. If the tread is flush with the bars, immediate replacement is necessary.

Pro Tip: Check your tire pressure monthly to prevent premature wear and improve fuel efficiency.

3. Inspect for Cracks and Bulges

Structural integrity is paramount. Inspect the sidewalls for any visible cracks or bulges. A bulge often indicates an internal failure that could lead to a sudden. If you see any signs of physical damage on the tire wall, replace the tire immediately.

4. Don't Forget the Inside Edges

Outer appearances can be deceiving. Wear often occurs on the hidden inside edges of the tire. To inspect these areas properly, turn your steering wheel fully to one side to expose the inner tread. This simple check can reveal hidden wear that might otherwise go unnoticed until it’s too late.
